What is this article about?

The Linonian Society held a meeting in the North Church on Tuesday evening, featuring an oration by Rev. Mr. Andrews of Kent and a poem by N.P. Willis, Esq. The crowded venue made Willis's delivery hard to hear, and the reporter's position in the vestibule obscured Andrews's remarks.

Full Text

The Linonian Society held their meeting in the North Church on Tuesday evening.—An Oration was delivered by the Rev. Mr. Andrews, of Kent, which we have heard highly spoken of, and a Poem by N. P. Willis, Esq. which we expect to hear more of hereafter.—In truth, Mr. Willis was scarcely heard at all in the delivery, the volume and compass of his voice not being sufficient to fill the house, which was crammed to suffocation. Mr. Andrews was more fortunate in that respect, but our position amidst the bustle of the vestibule did not enable us to keep up the connection of his remarks.
