GENERAL HOUCHARD, hitherto commander of the army of the North has been cashiered, and the command given to Jourdan. Houchard, who was a creature of Couthon, has been detected in a traitorous correspondence with the enemy. Thus the Duke of York, when the soldiers of the Republic had rendered vain the means taken to have them cut to pieces before Hondschoote, is said to have exclaimed, in a plaintive manner, "We are betrayed!"
Generals Landremont and Schombourg have also been displaced, the former commanded the army of the Rhine, and the latter that of the Moselle. They are replaced by Generals Delmas and Moreau.
