Full Text

By a Letter from a Correspondent at Paris, dated the 18th past, we learn that the Chevalier (commonly called the Pretender) and his Consort, arrived at Chanteloup, the Residence of the Duke de Choiseul, the 14th, and that they intended to spend the Carnival there. The Prince de Conti was likewise expected in a few Days, and the best Performers of the Opera and Playhouses had obtained Leave to repair there for the Amusement of those Princes; so that Chanteloup was likely to be in as high Reputation in France, during the Carnival Time, as Venice in Italy. Our Politicians are at a Loss to conjecture the Cause of this Meeting, which appears to have been agreed upon by the Court.
