House struck.—On Wednesday last the two story house of Isaac Riddle, Esq., in Bedford, was struck by lightning. The fluid passed down the chimney and rent it completely from top to bottom, destroying the greater portion of the east end of the building. A man, his wife and child, who were sitting near the fireplace, were uninjured, although a cat lying within a few inches of the woman's feet, was struck dead, the hair being entirely stripped off from her. The escape of the family was wonderful—Manchester, N. H. Amer.
