TROY, Oct. 18.

"By a letter this moment received, I have it in my power and it gives me real pleasure, to inform you, that in a joint ballot of both houses, (no Governor having been elected by the people,) Martin Chittenden has been elected Governor of the State of Vermont by a majority of five votes!

"The Augean stable will be cleansed." Jurisprudence, in Vermont, was polluted and corrupt from the fountain head through every ramification-It will be regenerated. I expect some pretty sharp laws will be passed against the infringement of civil rights by Madison's army.

"Last year Gov Galusha had a plurality of about 3300 votes--This result is strong evidence that notwithstanding the liberal distribution of the wages of iniquity, a majority of the people are opposed to the mad war policy of the national administrators of their National concerns, & that they wish to enjoy Peace, Commerce, Liberty, and the blessings of honest neutrality," agreeably to the great policy of the immortal Washington.
