The New-York Gazette of the 25th ult. mentions the receipt of London papers to the 15th August, and states as follows:-- "It will be seen among the extracts which we have given, that the British have no wish to go to war with this country--and that the general expression of the public prints indicate an ardent disposition to preserve the harmony of the two governments. All apprehension of an embargo on American vessels had subsided--and the British government waited with anxious solicitude the arrival of the dispatches sent out in the United States schooner Revenge, when the merits of the misunderstanding would be discussed."
