Old Soldiers.

"I have no fear that any effort of consequence to remove me from the office of Commander of Buckley post, will be made," said City Commissioner O. L. McMillen Monday. "No personal feeling has entered into any of the appointments of assessors, nor has it had anything to do with the failure to appoint Messrs. A. D. French or B. F. Davis. Mr. Davis understands why he was not appointed, and Mr. French cannot truthfully say that I turned him down for 'personal reasons.' On the other hand, I will point to the number of election policemen, judges, etc. as evidence of what I have helped to do for the old soldiers. For that matter four of the eight assessors chosen are old soldiers."
