Thief at the Mission

Special to Times-Republican.

Davenport, Jan. 27.—Mrs. A. W. Goff, who resides at 211 West Second street has reported to the police that her pocketbook was stolen yesterday afternoon from the Ned Lee Mission. Charles Cosgrove, the janitor, was taken into custody by the officers last night on suspicion but it is understood that nothing has been proven against him as yet.

Mrs. Goff went to the Mission rooms yesterday afternoon to attend a woman's meeting. She laid the pocketbook with her wraps in one of the rooms, and when she returned after the meeting was over it was gone. The pocketbook contained $4 and some small change, besides some old coins that were considered very valuable.
