ALAMEDA, Cal., Jan. 27.-Norman A. Goddard, head of the Palo Alto Aviation School, was killed Sunday when he fell 3,000 feet with his own glider and struck on the Oakland estuary.

Goddard attempted to loop and his wings collapsed. He freed himself from the fuselage but at an insufficient altitude to permit his parachute to open.

At the insistence of his wife Goddard wore a parachute contrary to his usual practice.

Goddard had hoped to establish a glider loop record.
