Morrison Comes Out For Senate in 1932

Charlotte.—Former Governor Cameron Morrison Saturday announced he intended to be a candidate for the United States Senate in 1932. The statement was limited to the bare announcement.

In a short formal statement, the former Governor said:

"I think it would be most unwise for the Democrats of the State to let themselves be diverted from whole-hearted attention to the election in November of the ticket nominated in the last primary by controversy over nominations two years from now.

"Four years ago I announced I had declined to enter the primary then against my good friend Senator Overman, although importuned to do so by many, but that at the expiration of Senator Overman's present term, I expected to be a candidate for Senator. I have not authorized any statement to the contrary. It is my intention to be a candidate."
