Full Text

If the two Houses of Congress have any desire to know what work is cut out for them by the lower Cabinet, we are enabled to place it before them in the compendious form, as here followeth:

"The New York Standard proposes that Congress should cut matters short by enforcing the Previous Question, stop the talking,

"pass the appropriation bills, turn the Bank over to the Committee of Ways and Means, and go

"home. Let the Committee be empowered to make a thorough investigation, which they can do before the next Session; and then the

"fate of the Bank can be settled definitively.-

" The long speeches, certainly, signify nothing.

"Not a single opinion will be changed by it,

"for the mind of every man in Congress is made up."

This paragraph is from " the Pennsylvanian," the journal which Mr. Bennett was recently ejected from for non-conformity to orders from head-quarters, and is therefore from unquestionable authority. Congress will please, therefore, to understand their duty, the line of which is thus plainly chalked out for them.
