They write from Bayonne, that there are arrived in that harbour five rafts or floats of masts brought down the Gave, (which has lately been rendered navigable for the space of four and twenty leagues ) from the forest in the valley of Ape in Bearn, where 6000 trees have been felled, and cut out in the different sorts of timber, all which are to be successively brought down by this new navigation. - The five floats above-mentioned, being the first that ever were brought this way, were received in the port under a discharge of the cannon of the city and citadel amidst the acclamations of all the inhabitants.
