Full Text

M. Blanchard, the celebrated aeronaut, is about erecting a large building, in the rear of the lot occupied by Governor Mifflin, for the purpose of an aeronautical Laboratory. Here he proposes to exhibit the balloon with which he ascended on the 9th of January, and also another, much larger, similar to that with which he crossed the British Channel. Some interesting pieces of mechanism will also be kept in this philosophical Laboratory. When the materials are fully prepared, notice will be given the public, and a second subscription will be opened for a 4th ascension, which it is hoped will be such as not to dishonour this great capital, the Athens of America, and where every species of genius ought to meet its reward. M. Blanchard, we understand, does not mean to ascend, unless the subscription shall be such as to indemnify him for the expense; the last having fallen considerably short.
