Full Text

Cut All Night on a Mountain Top.

Miss Godbe and W. S. Cook, the latter reporter for the Second District Court at Beaver, had a rather peculiar adventure a few days ago. They undertook the ascent of Belknap, a peak somewhat higher than Baldy and said to be about 13,000 feet. It taking somewhat longer than they supposed, they only arrived a little before dark and were obliged to stay all night. How drear and lone the place! it was cold, too, as winter almost, and upon searching, Cook found that there was but one match, and that was but the head of one with half an inch of the stick. But with it they kindled a fire from some old logs, the remainder of the signal station of the Geodetic survey, and so remained there all night long, suffering considerably from the cold.
