VALDEZ HAS BIG DAMAGE, SNOW FALL

VALDEZ, Alaska, Jan. 14.—(A')—A five-foot fall of heavy, wet snow collapsed roofs of four buildings here with damage estimated at $25,000.

The snowfall, occurring Tuesday and Wednesday, caused damage to a business building, the city airplane hangar and two warehouses. No one was hurt, and removal of snow from roofs of other major buildings was completed today.

One of the warehouses damaged belonged to the Standard Oil Company. A portion of the roof broke under weight of the snow.

Plane travel was disrupted by the storm, and the Alaska Road Commission at Juneau reported highway traffic to the Tok Cutoff at Mentasta Lake had been halted temporarily.
