Full Text

Mr. General Duff Green, of the Washington Telegraph, has recently spent a few days in Hartford, Conn. The name of this individual, it is stated, has been withdrawn from the Daily Telegraph, though it is continued in the country paper. There is no doubt, from its columns, that it is under the auspices of the same evil genius as heretofore.

The Hartford Review is unwarrantably severe upon Mr. Green; for, bad as he is politically, he was a stranger visiting that city, and so long as he behaved decently, entitled to common courtesy. The fact of his visiting an oyster cellar, is not within the legitimate pale of newspaper comment. There was too much of this slang, about the movements of private as well as public individuals, during the last election. Pray let us who condemned it then, avoid it now.

The Hartford Review is about to be published twice a week. This paper is conducted with much spirit and talent, though it sometimes wants a little "restraining grace."
