OR JACKSON MOUNTAIN
W. E. Christiernsson of Keystone, S. D., accompanied by J. W. Howser of Towanda, Pa., left yesterday for Jackson Creek, where the former is interested in mining property. The claims under control of Mr. Christiernsson were acquired from Tom Fox and considered among the best in the great copper belt of the Jackson range. Men have been at work on the property for several months past and some bodies of copper ore have been developed.
The Jackson district is one of the largest copper belts in the state and where a large amount of development work has been done the ore bodies seem to be permanent. The area over which copper outcrops can be found in that great mineral section is ten miles wide by thirty miles long and not only are there small veins of very rich copper ore, but in a great many places immense deposits have been uncovered that would furnish a number of large reduction plants with ore for years.
The Western Pacific railway has been graded within a comparatively short distance from these great deposits and the completion of that railroad system will see great activity in that section of Humboldt county.—Humboldt Star.
