GEN. GREENE DAY
Elaborate Observance Planned by Gaspee Chapter, D. A. R.

The General Assembly, having designated June 6th, as "General Nathaniel Greene Day," it will be appropriately celebrated on that day by the Gaspee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Rhode Island Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. The exercises will take place at the Mathewson street Methodist church at 3:30 o'clock on the afternoon of Thursday next and an especially interesting and instructive program has been arranged, according to periods, in connection with the antecedents, life and death of General Greene. The following is the program:

First period-1543-1742-"Antecedents and Ancestry," by Hon. Henry L. Greene

Second period-1742-1763-"Boyhood," by Mrs. Margaret I. Chace.

Third period-1763-1775-"Early Manhood," by Theodore F. Greene, Esq.

Fourth period-1775-1781-"Military Career," by Brig. Gen. Hazard Stevens of Boston.

Cornet solo.

Fifth period-1781-1786-"Later Life and Death," by Miss Mary A. Greene.

Sixth period-Discovery in 1900 of tomb and Relics of General Greene, First President of the R. I. State Society of the Cincinnatis, by Col. Asa Burd Gardner, LL. D. L. H. D., present president of the R. I. State society of the Cincinnatis

Singing, "America," by the audience.

Special invitations have been sent the governor and his staff, the mayor, board of aldermen, ministers, the faculty of Brown University and the various patriotic organizations of the city.

The joint committee of the daughters and sons, having the affair in hand are Mr. George A. Buffum, Mr. George H. Nightingale, Prof. W. H. Monroe, Mr. Gray T. Mason, Mrs. Walter S. Ballou, Mrs. George A. Buffum and Miss M. Helen Potter.
