ENVOYS TO FRANCE.

Extract of a letter from a respectable gentleman, at Providence, to his friend in this town, dated Feb. 28.

News has been received here this day from Charleston, that our Commissioners had arrived at Paris, and been received with tokens of general respect and joy. The information reached Charleston by a ship from London, in a short passage. I have not seen the papers: but the whole will be in print to-morrow. I assure you, however, that such information is really in the Charleston papers."

The Providence Gazette of Saturday last contrary to our expectation, contains nothing further of this intelligence. A gentleman from that place however informs that Capt. Collet who arrived there from Charles. ton in 6 days, brought papers containing the positive news of the arrival of our Envoys at Paris ; that they were cordially received ; and that the Consuls had decreed the respect of the American flag by French cruisers.
