CONCLUSION OF PROCEEDINGS
In the SENATE—The bill to annex part of Fayston to Waitsfield was called up and the 3d reading ordered—yeas 11, nays 1. The rule having been suspended the bill passed. Mr. Colt called up his bill to prohibit the sale of buckin:iahnr HOUSE—Engrossed bills... ...Mr. Martin moved to strike out the amendment proposed by the Senate... which was rejected. Mr. Buonomo then proposed to amend the sections... Mr. Burrows moved to make the bill the order... The balloting for U.S. Senator was resumed with this result...
Report of the committee on claims. Resolution for the appointment of a committee to investigate the claim of Henry Stevens against the State, the expenses of investigation to be paid by Mr. Stevens, and his claim allowed if the committee report unanimously in favor thereof: on motion of Mr. Burrows the resolution was dismissed.
By the majority of the committee on Elections in favor of the right of Oscar C. Hale to hold a seat in the House as the representative from Newbury. The minority of the Committee reported against the right of Mr. Hale to a seat. The resolution reported by the committee was adopted.
By the committee on the Grand List, in favor of the Senate bill in amendment of chap. 50 R.S., with an amendment, which was rejected and the third reading of the bill refused.
The Senate bill providing for the adoption of Uniform Rules to be used in the County Courts and Courts of Chancery in this State was passed.
The Senate bill relating to the issuing of writs against the bodies of defendants in certain cases was refused its 3d reading.
The resolution relating to the claim of the Iroquois Indians was adopted.
The usual vote of thanks to the Speaker was adopted when he addressed the House.
The usual messages were interchanged, and at half past 2 o'clock Wednesday morning, the Speaker declared the House adjourned without day.
