GARY MAN'S MURDER
STIRS VALPO SHERIFF

VALPARAISO, IND., Sept. 26—Sheriff Pennington is determined that the gang of holdup men, who have been operating so successfully in Lake county, and since the murder of the Gary soft drink man across the line in Porter county, he has redoubled his efforts to keep the highways of this county open, free and safe for travel at any time, day or night.

Last night a couple of suspicious looking characters giving their names as Earl Stevens and John Graw, began bothering motorists in the vicinity of Prattville, by stopping them, and asking for rides. Twenty minutes after they began this practice the two men were in the Porter county jail, and later sent out of the county.
