Full Text
We have again and again stated, that we never saw so great unanimity of feeling and devotion to the cause of Democracy in our party, as at the present time. Self is entirely thrown aside, and each one asks "what can I do to best preserve the liberties of my country, and protect the nation against Bank rule and domination." The friends of a sound constitutional currency are everywhere in motion, and the rag Baron and shin-plaster politicians, will be taken prisoners as sure as they enter the field for battle. A number of Whigs that have conversed with us seem fully disposed to throw off their party trammels, and go in for self-protection, and self-preservation. This is a noble resolution, and if we cannot eradicate the evil, let us modify, lop off, or regulate it, so as to parry off the storm as much as possible.-- We would be the most abject slaves in the world not to do this. we will add a new lustre upon the character of freemen to accomplish it.
