Weare Quarterly Meeting
Which was held at Grantham on the 25th, and 26th ult. Conference day prior. Reports from the churches represent our Q. M. to be more than usually flourishing. Revivals are among us; and quite an addition has been made since our May term. A church recently organized in Wendell, consisting of 17 members, was received into the Q. M. making our present number of churches 17. In said town a glorious work is going on, which makes glad the Zion of God in that place. Br. Stephen Goodale of Deering, a licensed preacher, is laboring in that place with good success.
Our meeting at Grantham, though not so large as usual for the occasion, was good, and we hope not unprofitable to the brethren and citizens of that place, whose houses were so liberally opened for our reception, and whose hearts were ready for the gracious messages of grace brought them. Elders D. Harriman, J. Watson, and Caverno, preached at the meeting.
In the conference, brother Jesse Cross of Springfield was licensed. In relating his experience and call to labor in the vineyard, though he seems very reluctant to come under the title of a minister, a very melting season was realized. We expect usefulness from this our brother, who is just entering upon the most awful and responsible undertaking ever assigned to mortal man.
Our next Q. M. is appointed at Deering, commencing on the last Wednesday of next month.
A. Caverno, Clerk.
