Much has been said about the expense that the Danville people were at in putting up the public buildings at that place, and consequently, provisions have been made in the Removal Bill, for refunding their original subscriptions-but it appears from the extract from the Commissioners books, which follows, that the story is all gammon, and that they could not have paid much, if any, towards the erection of the public buildings, as it has always been understood that the original cost of constructing them was only about $5,000
