DUNS SCOTUS
A case of Beatification making satisfactory progress in Rome is that of the Venerable Duns Scotus. Last year the official seal was bestowed on the cult given to the "Subtle Doctor." One of the arguments, and one of the most telling, which was brought forward by the Order of Friars Minor (to which Duns Scotus belonged) in favor of this step came from the city of Cologne. It was shown that in the sixteenth century, during a time of plague, the body of Duns Scotus was borne through the city and his protection invoked for the city.
