Mrs. Clark Quits To Take New Post

Mrs. Isabella C. Clark has resigned her $6,870 post as director of the Division of Child Welfare, Department of Social Welfare, effective May 18.

Mrs. Clark is considering three offers in the states and will announce which one she has accepted today.

She has been on the staff of the Department of Social Welfare here for six years, beginning as a district supervisor.

For the past three years she has held her present post on the three-island level.

Before coming to the Virgin Islands she did post graduate work at Ohio State, Oberlin and the University of Pennsylvania.

She worked in child welfare agencies and taught at St. Augustin's Episcopal College in Raleigh, N.C.

Her home was in Philadelphia and she did her undergraduate work at Howard University, where she received her AB in sociology and physical education.

She received her master's in social work from Atlanta University where she held the Purvis Fellowship awarded by the National Tuberculosis Association.

Mrs. Clark at one time did public relations work for the National Urban League.
