Fish Dinner, Political Speaking and Dance Will Be Features of Event
Crestview, May 18.-(Special)-
The Okaloosa County Boosters and Builders at a meeting held here today completed arrangements to serve a free fish dinner, political speaking and a big dance at Camp Walton Saturday, May 30, the occasion of the initial opening to the public of the new Gulf fishing pier, 800 feet out in the Gulf, and the free ferry across Garnier's bayou, on the Gulf Coastal highway.
The following tentative program was adopted: 9 o'clock a. m., official opening and inspection by the public of the Gulf fishing pier; 12 noon, free fish dinner, with all the fish, bread, pickles and salad every visitor can eat, with plenty of hot coffee to drink. All candidates for the governorship in the 1932 campaign have been invited to be present in person and speak. The grand march preceding the big dance at the Gulf Breeze dancing pavilion, out over the water on Santa Rosa sound, will start the evening entertainment by one of the South's best dance orchestras.
With the opening of the free ferry by the State Road department across Garnier's bayou, on the Gulf Coastal highway, a hard surfaced, 75-mile an hour highway is ready for the Alabama and Georgia visitors all the way from Florala, Ala., to the Gulf. The Old Spanish Trail, connecting with No. 54 at Crestview, will provide an all the way hard surfaced road to the Gulf from all points between Pensacola and Jacksonville.
