PEACE TO IT'S ASHES.
Any man, studying the signs of the times and not party blind, must see that the days of the moribund g. o. p. are numbered. That it must occupy a prominent place in American history for the great and beneficent results it has achieved is cheerfully conceded. We could not say less and be true to history.
The fame and glory of that galaxy of brilliant and patriotic men and women who called it into being nursed it, in its infancy and directed its movements during its early and matured manhood can never die, to be held up to admiration "to the last moment of recorded time."
Overtaken by decay, incident to all human contrivances. its senility is daily becoming more marked and deprived of the protection and direction of its departed friends. It has fallen into the hands of money-grabbing Philistines who, not only have tarnished its ancient glory, but left it to the prey of vultures, gnawing at its vitals until now it serves only "to point a moral and adorn a tale,"
With the century, it will be laid to rest with the other effete political organizations that have gone before.
The Peoples Party has no apology to make for our Congressman. They hold their own against any other class of representatives, are wide awake and nothing escapes their vigilant gaze, They have served their districts and will no doubt be duly remembered when the time comes,
Experience in congressional matters is too valuable to be recklessly sacrificed.
