JERSEY CITY'S BALL OPENING

Jersey City is to have its baseball opening for the season of 1905 next Monday afternoon, when the local club of the Eastern League will face the Newark aggregation. P. T. Powers, President of the Eastern League and President of the National Association, is to have as his guests, in addition to many other prominent personages in the base-ball world, Henry Chadwick, "Father of Baseball," and Harry C. Pulliam, President of the National League.

Mayor Fagan, of Jersey City, will start things rolling by pitching the first ball across the plate. The usual parade will take place, and there will also be singing by a large chorus. The grounds have been decorated in a lavish manner.
