FAT PIGS EXHIBITED
HERE ON SATURDAY

Six Members of Peoples Bank Pig Club Awarded Pre-miums. Register Freeman

Pig pens were erected in front of the Peoples Bank, on the east side of the square in Dresden, last Saturday and six of the bank's pig club members were present with their fine fat pigs, which attracted widespread attention.

All day large numbers of people gathered to view the fine fat pigs, to congratulate the pig club members and to encourage these young farmers in their efforts to produce better stock.

This was the round-up day for the pig club members of the Peoples Bank pig club, and it is sorely regretted that so many of the boys contracted cold feet and dropped out. However, Mr. Byars, the progressive young manager of the bank, is by no means discouraged, and announced during the day that his bank will offer attractive inducements another year to boys and girls who want to enter another contest.

The premium winners were as follows: Carthal Brann, first. His pig gained 33 pounds in one month, the pig weighing 370 pounds, and made a daily gain of 1.77 pounds. Edward Parker made second all-round record with a pig weighing 295 pounds, daily gain being 1.33 pounds, at a cost of 4c per pound. Willie Maddox, third; Gela Hornsby, fourth; Cecil Winstead, fifth, and W. C. Winstead, sixth. The bank awarded a cash prize to each member.

After the judging and scoring by Mr. G. L. Herrington, Register Bob Freeman, always interested in the activities of young men and women, invited the club members to his office, where he presented each with a bright, new, crisp dollar bill. Two years ago Mr. Freeman gave the 23 pig club members at Martin a dollar bill each.
