Event Details
Two gentlemen in a post chaise were stopped by a single man on foot dressed in a carter's frock near Blackheath. The military officer refused to be robbed and shot the robber dead when threatened with a pistol. The body was later identified and removed. Shortly after, they were attacked again by a mounted highwayman near the Red House. The officer shot at him through the chaise blind, and the horse plunged into a ditch; the horse was found later without the rider.
