Full Text

LONDON, November.

Extract of a letter from Paris, October 21.

"The procession of the 31 French captives, redeemed this year from Algiers, by the Mathurins and the Fathers de la Mercy, took place the 17th, 18th, and 19th of this month. The oldest among these slaves, named Michael Potavin, is 80 years of age, thirty of which he has passed in slavery; and is now returned to his own country, where his mother is still living, aged 101 years.

Two women, the one living in the parish of St. Mary, and the other in St. Avoye street, have found their husbands again. One of them after ten, and the other thirteen years of widowhood, married again. They lived very happy with their second husbands; one had five children, and the other was lying in of the third. Their surprise was as great as their sorrow at the appearance of their former husbands. The woman who lived in St. Avoye-street was so struck, that she died, and the other lies dangerously ill."
