WILLIAMSBURG, October 27.

On the 16th, 17th, and 18th instants, the following criminals were brought to the bar of the general court, to take their trials, viz. Henry Bond, from Pittsylvania, for horse-stealing. Anthony Larkins, from Frederick, for grand larceny, and John Johnson, from Halifax, for murder: Acquitted by the grand jury. Charles Moss, and William Horsley, from Albemarle, Jesse Bolling, from Cumberland, William Thomas (alias Morris Moratt) from Sussex, and William Gripping (alias Charles Garland) from Augusta, for horse-stealing; Richard Bishop, from Prince George, and James Kelly, from Dunmore, for burglary; Joseph Ray, from Pittsylvania, for negro-stealing; Edward Brown, from Charles City, for sacrilege; Benjamin Lightfoot, and Lee Bridgewater, from Chesterfield, for counterfeiting silver currency: Acquitted. Lightfoot and Bridgewater ordered to give security for their good behaviour for six months; the latter gave bond, and was discharged; the other remanded to jail. Robert Clodd, from Prince William, and James Howell, from Nansemond, for murder: Found guilty of manslaughter, and burnt in the hand. Benjamin Higgins, from Dunmore, for a theft; laid over to next court.
