The JOURNAL was not ruled out. On the contrary, at the inception of the movement it was invited to lend its influence to the cause. Because we declined, and gave our reasons for not favoring no license, the Connecticut Home accused us of being the ally of the saloon keepers. But that is not the only foolish assertion made by the organ of the Prohibitionists. We repeat, the JOURNAL would like to see the saloon evil abated, but the fact does not need reiteration, that the voting of no license is not the practical way of bringing about the wished for result. If the editor of the Patriot has read the editorial page of this paper for the past month he knows why the JOURNAL is not doing any heavy work to promote the no license movement.
