TAYLOR'S LOSS AT BUENA VISTA.

Gen. Taylor in his official despatches gave his loss, of killed and wounded, in the battle of the 22d and 23d, except one Kentucky company. The National Intelligencer publishes a letter stating the loss of this company, as being one half or more of the whole company. It was probably so cut up as to leave no one whose duty it was to make a return to the commander-in-chief. This swells the number of killed and wounded in this battle to upwards of 800.

This company had 23 killed, 26 privates wounded and also 6 officers.

The Kentuckians suffered severely. They doubtless fought the best of any of the troops, and consequently bled the most freely. They lost several brave officers as well as many brave men.

Doubtless two-thirds of the whole from Kentucky were gallant whigs and voted for Clay and against annexation and the consequent war—yet they sacrificed themselves as freely as others—a little more freely than the locofocos of Vermont, who voted for Polk, Texas and war, seem inclined to do—who, if they are not traitors to the country are traitors to the measures for which they voted! Put these truths into their faces till they start for the battle field, and repel the invasion of the country!
