BEAT THIS WHO CAN.

One day's work.—A Liverpool paper of Aug. 28 says,—On Thursday morning at 5 o'clock, Mr. Brougham left York, he breakfasted, and made arrangements with some friends at Leeds; went to Bradford, attended a public breakfast, and spoke to the people; proceeded to Halifax, and spoke to the people; went on to Elland, and spoke again; addressed the electors near Honley, and again at New-Mill; proceeded to Penistone, and made another speech; reached Sheffield at a quarter to seven o'clock, and addressed a vast multitude in Paradise Square; went on to Barnsley, where the market place was crowded to receive him, and where he addressed the people after ten o'clock at night, by gas-light and torch-light, and finally proceeded to Thorne House, near Wakefield, to sleep—having travelled a hundred miles and made eight speeches in the course of the day. The following morning, at six o'clock, he addressed the inhabitants of Wakefield, and went into Court at nine o'clock at York, as if nothing had happened. And yet, amongst the objections urged against the man that can make these herculean exertions, it is foolishly asserted that he cannot do the public business of the country.

Leeds Mercury.

Duff would say that this beats Mr. Clay, don't you think so?
