A SPLENDID PLATFORM,
There is not a better type of the best Democracy than is found in the neighboring county of Harnett. It was originally settled by the grand army of Macs who came directly to North Carolina from Scotland. Its people may be depended upon to stand true to their convictions, to defend their homes in time of war, and to stand firmly by their convictions in times of peace. They are an independent people, they have studied great public questions and are well informed, and they are ready to give a reason for the faith that is in them.
We publish elsewhere the resolutions adopted by the Harnett county Democratic Convention at Lillington. They have the true ring. The men who will be charged with writing the Democratic State platform at the Greensboro Convention would do well to read the Harnett resolutions with care.
