Virginia Legislature.

The H. of D. have been principally occupied in hearing and referring petitions from the people.—The following are the most material Resolutions adopted on Thursday.

On motion of Mr. Watkins (of Charlotte) seconded by Mr. Robertson (of Amelia) :

Resolved, That the Adjutant-General be directed to lay before the General Assembly a report of the number of Militia detailed for service under the requisition of 1812, shewing distinctly the number of General, Field and Staff Officers from each Division, Brigade and Regiment: and also the number of Captains and Subaltern Officers, and the number of privates from each regiment—& further, to show what proportion of the said requisition has been called into service, shewing distinctly from what Regiments they have been called—and further, to report what number of Militia have been called into service, not of the said requisition, shewing distinctly from what regiments they have been drawn; and further, to lay before the General Assembly all the correspondence in his office in relation to the retention in service beyond the term of three months, of those men not of the requisition of 1812, & whose term of service was three months; designating such letters as were written by authority and under the view of the Executive, from such as were written by the Adjutant General, without the inspection or instruction of the Executive.

On motion of Mr. Archer. (of Amelia.)

Resolved, That a committee be appointed, on the part of the House of Delegates, to act jointly with a committee from the Senate to examine into the state and condition of the Bank of Virginia and the Farmers' Bank of Virginia, and that the Presidents and Directors of the Banks exhibit to the said Committee for examination, a statement of the Capital Stock of the said Corporation; of the debts due to the same, monies deposited therein; the amount of Notes in circulation, and of cash on hand.

On this day, the Legislature will proceed to the election of a Governor;—and of a member of the Privy Council to supply the vacancy occasioned by the death of James Wood, Esq.
