Would Prove a Good Law.
It might be a good idea for the incoming Nevada Legislature, which meets in Carson on Monday next, to pass a law compelling all locators of mining claims to do assessment work within sixty days after the location is made. The prosperity of certain parts of Nevada depends largely upon the mining industry, and such a law would put a stop to a lot of impecunious hogs found in every mining camp, who are in the habit of staking off an entire mining district, with no intention of developing, the same, but merely to hold the ground in abeyance and prevent development. The mining industry is hampered in no small degree by the present law regarding locations, and its repeal and passage of one as suggested would prove beneficial to the live mining population of the State.- Va.
