KINGSTON, Jamaica—(ANP)—
American investors are setting up in Kingston area a two and a half million dollars glass factory. Operation of the plant which will give 200 Jamaicans employment is set for September next year.
Technicians will be recruited from North America to start the factory and train Jamaican employees. The plant will enjoy Government tax relief.
Manufacturers are Messrs. Philip B. Bateson and Walter L. Maguire who are industrialists of New York and Stamford, Connecticut, respectively. Together they've formed Jamaica Glass Products Limited and Jamaica Ores Limited.
A vast quantity of silica and quartz sand is found in Jamaica for the purpose of the plant. Prospecting is however proceeding in various parts of the island to ensure that inexhaustible deposits occur here.
