IMPROVEMENTS.—Notwithstanding the heated term, with all its attending ills, is upon us, the spirit of enterprise that has been so manifest in our city, seems to lull not with the spring weather, and at the approach of the "dog days," but early and late we can hear the banging of the hammer—the fizzing of the saw, and the cry of "mort," "brick," etc.

Several workmen are engaged in putting the finishing touch on the cellar of the Odd Fellows' Hall. The site for the new store house of Charter & Pfeifer is being cleared of rubbish, and new material coming upon the ground. It is expected that this will be a fine structure and add materially to the wealth and general appearance of that part of the city.

The walls of the M. E. Church, on Main street, are sufficiently advanced to admit the window frames or a part of them, which we noticed were being put in yesterday.

Many other new buildings are springing up, and equally as many undergoing repairs and being beautified by the application of paint and adorned with new fences, shrubbery, flowers, etc.
