AMUSEMENT TAX
(San Bernardino Sun)

Municipalities which are faced with increased expenses because of increased population occasioned by war work are examining the feasibility of an amusement tax.

San Diego inaugurated the tax and city officials there are informing representatives of other cities of its success. Stockton is to make its decision on the tax next month and the Stockton Record has voiced its approval of the plan. Various cities are beginning to indicate interest in the success of the tax in San Diego.

Los Angeles, as the center of the motion picture industry, has rejected it.

In the search for some quick method to obtain some slight tax contribution from the hundreds of thousands of persons in California who are making no direct local tax payment the field of amusement ticket tax is high on the list of potential sources of new revenue.
