The ship Boyne, capt. Safford, sailed from this port 51 days ago, with a cargo of cotton, &c. bound to Bordeaux. On the 31st of December, (being then within 21 miles of Cordouan Light House) was bro't to by the British frigate Tribune, capt. Leonard, who warned capt. S. of entering at Bordeaux; at the same time informing him, that every port of France, Spain, Portugal, or the Mediterranean, was under a state of blockade; but gave him permission to enter at any port under the jurisdiction or at amity with Great Britain. Capt. S. thought it most adviseable to return to this port.
The following is the indorsement made by captain Leonard, on the Mediterranean Pass of the Boyne.
"You are hereby warned from entering any port in France, and all her dependencies, Portugal, Spain, the Italian and Mediterranean ports, and the colonies of France and Spain; but to proceed to any port in the united kingdom."
"Given under my hand, on board his majesty's ship Tribune, at sea, the 30th Dec. 1807."
"JAMES LEONARD,
Master of the Tribune."
