SHOT AND THEN BEAT HIM.
Moore in a Serious Condition and Officers Searching for Kirks.

(Special to News and Observer.)
Clayton, N. C., Sept. 20.—John Moore, of near Clayton, was seriously shot Sunday night by a Mr. Kirks. After shooting him Kirks beat him with his gun. Moore is reported to be in a serious condition. The trouble grew out of the fact that Moore had bought some cattle from the wife of Kirks. Kirks and his wife had separated some time ago.

Officers are in search of Kirks and Dr. Young has gone to Moore.
