Full Text

The gallant, but unfortunate King of Sweden,

has experienced some alleviation in his misfortunes.

by escaping from the power of Buonaparte, and,

as will be seen in this day's paper, has landed in England,

the only spot in Europe, which is completely

exempted from the grasp of tyranny. When we

consider the vigilance of Napoleon's emissaries

and spies, and subserviency of his vassal kings,

and rulers, we are astonished at the good fortune

of Gustavus. It is certain that without the con-

nivance of the Emperor of Russia, in whose do-

minions he embarked, the King of Sweden could

not have escaped; a circumstance calculated to

increase the discontents that already exist, between

Alexander and Napoleon.
