War Among the Chinamen.

Last evening the pig-tails which congregate in the Chinese quarters, next the Key City house, became involved in a dispute over some matter. Words failing, blows were resorted to, and for some minutes they made things lively in the most approved Celestial manner. The arrival of the police soon put an end to the amusement, which was highly enjoyed by those who witnessed it. The result was that ten were arrested and placed in the "cooler." From the fact that the argument was carried on in heathen, it was impossible to ascertain the cause of the trouble. After the arrests the laundry business in the city was suspended for the time being, and each vied with the other in their endeavors to secure the release of their almond-eyed countrymen. Officer Sullivan, who took part in making the arrests. said that a back room of the Chinese den where the row occurred was evidently used as a "joint" where the Celestials "hit the pipe." There was a pipe and some opium, and it may be that the charge of disorderly conduct, on which the Mongolians were taken in, may be supplemented by one more grave.
