Full Text

Last Wednesday arrived here Capt. John Stanton, in 34 days from the north side of Jamaica, by whom we have a confirmation of the article mentioned in our last, relating to a second insurrection of the Negroes in Westmoreland and Hanover; but before he came away, they had advice that they were subdued, and Numbers of them taken and executed; the rest drove from their towns and lurking places and dispersed.

The day before Capt. Stanton sailed, there was a report, from St. Thomas's in the east part of the island, that the Negroes in those parts had broke out, but 'twas not confirmed: Capt. Stanton sailed the 12th of June, in order to join the grand fleet to come under convoy, with several Vessels, but running foul of Capt. Stanney's Ship in the Night, he received such Damage he was obliged to put to Sea, not being able to get round: He imagines Capt. Stanney's Ship received Damage also, having heard two Guns fire after he left her. The Fleet was to sail the 17th of June.
