Extract of a letter from CHARLES MARTIN, Esq. Postmaster at Waterford, Erie county, to a gentleman in Lancaster, dated December 5, 1805.
"Judson and Isaac Farren, are just returned from Detroit. They bring bad news from that place—that the Indians are gathering in force, and threaten Detroit with a second conflagration. The people are in great alarm, and turning out to arms in every direction. If they had not come away the day they did, they would have been enrolled in the militia next day. This I suppose is owing to the withdrawing of the troops, as there is now only part of a company of artillerists there, under Capt. Dyson"
