Full Text

NEW-YORK, May 2.

NO COMMERCE—NO LOAN!

Mr. Gallatin's Loan.

The books for the loan of Eleven Millions of dollars were opened the day before yesterday. The Manhattan bank, as a decoy, offered half a million for sixty days. Besides this, the subscription did not amount to one hundred thousand dollars the first day. Yesterday, we learn, some Frenchmen added about forty thousand dollars more—And "go they wraf it uf."

If this, and the result of our elections do not cure the War Fever and Restrictive Mania, in Washington, cantharides must be applied to the whole sternum.—Probatur est.
