Chicago American Giants In Dream Game With Cincinnati

CLEVELAND, Ohio-The Buck- eyes are getting ready for a big welcome for the Chicago American Giants when they come to town next Sunday, June 7, to play the Ohio boys at League Park in a doubleheader which promises a couple of red hot ball games. The Buckeyes are trying hard to get up in top position. After swinging away to a slow start they have stretched their winning streak to seven games at this writing.

Candy Jim Taylor is always popu- lar with the fans of Cleveland and this will be their first appearance here this season. It will be the first two games of a series which the Buckeyes and Giants will play.

The infield has been function- ing just like one of the big-league infields and it has proved it can tighten up and make the other team hustle every minute The double play combination is one of the best. Archie Ware at first. Billy Horne at second, Parnell Woods on third, Winky James at short, and Buster Brown doing the back stopping make an infield hard to beat.

The pitching staff has been bol- stered by addition of Smokey Owens who is not new to fans who follow baseball closely. Smokey is one of those hard workers who pitches every minute he is on the mound. Woods now has the duties of field captain and he really gets some- thing outof the Buckeyes They have been looking better each game they play and are determin- ed to get up in that first position.

Sonny Harris has also been add- ed to the club roster. He is an outfielder and is a hard hitter, having played with some very good teams. He was with the Cincinna- ti Tigers. With these three new faces in the lineup, the Buckeyes are much stronger than before.

The Chicago club brings some well known ball players to the city and one of the most popular and well known is Cool Papa Bell who, for a number of years, always has been a favorite of Cleveland fans.
